Tips for Innsbruck

AIRPORT INFO

Innsbruck airport is very small and close to the city center, so you do not spend too much time on your arrival or departure. In order to go to the city center, take a bus (line F) or a taxi which costs maximum 15 euros. Check here for more info.

INNSBRUCK BACKGROUND

Innsbruck lies about halfway between Munich in Germany and Verona in Italy.

Innsbruck is an internationally renowned winter sports center, located in the heart of the North Tyrolean Alps.

The town is located in the broad valley, surrounded with high mountains. You can see the big mountains from town.

The town remains one of the most beautiful and popular in the country. Its wonderful nature provides all year round activities, in summer visitors go hiking and biking in the mountains, while in winter skiing and snowboarding are the most popular activities.

Innsbruck is a great holiday destination for those, who are willing to explore, discover and learn as well as have fun outdoors.

GOING TO THE MOUNTAINS

You can reach the mountains via public transport, so there is no need to rent a car.

Public transport is free when you are wearing the ski suit. Therefore, most of the citizens wear the suit and just get into the bus to reach the mountains.

The ski area of Innsbruck has 9 zones: Nordkette/Seegrube, Patscherkofel, Axamer Lizum, Muttereralm, Kühtai, Rangger Köpfl, Glungezer, Schlick 2000 and Stubai Glacier - including 90 lifts and 300 km of slopes.

The ski pas includes any of them. Check here the map with the areas.

In the mountains there are lockers if you want to store a backpack or an extra pair of shoes. Also, in each of the zones, there are children and beginners slope where you can practice before starting.

WHERE TO STAY

There are many hotels where you can stay. They usually offer a comfortable package with half board and even transportation to the mountains (once a day).

If your budget is tight, you can easily rent a private apartment according to your budget. As I said before, you can take public transport, which covers the whole area of Innsbruck, in order to reach the mountains.

RENT EQUIPMENT OR TAKE A COURSE

In the city center there are a lot of places where you can rent or buy your equipment, so no worries! I personally recommend the shop die borse. You can book a ski course in any of these shops or in the mountains where there are ski schools. You can even book a class on the same day.
